IT Professionals,
We want to make you aware of a managed device Microsoft Office upgrade project. Through the guidance and approval of the 1IUTLC leadership team, Endpoint Management Services is implementing a site wide upgrade to M365 for all SCCM managed devices with older versions of Office on September 19.
This will impact a number of managed devices with older versions of Office.
Some devices will need to be excluded from this upgrade. In order to exclude your devices please provide a list of your exclusions via an exclusion collection (login required). Please provide this collection to us no later than September 12. An impact list is available for all devices currently utilizing an older MS Office version. Failure to provide this collection will result in the upgrade of all your devices.
We are already excluding devices that have installed components which prohibit a clean upgrade. We have detection logic in place to ensure exclusion collections are not impacted with this upgrade. The collections IT Pros provide will be added to this master collection.
Why is this upgrade happening? We recognize that some older versions still fall within MS Support and are still receiving security updates. However, these versions are not receiving feature updates necessary for preserving business continuity.
EMS and IUware have both removed all old versions of Office. Please do not deploy older versions of Office without a valid use case.
If there are questions about this upgrade, please reach out to Tier 2 Support via SCT2@iu.edu.
