Dear IT Professionals,
As you may know, Indiana University has a new bookstore vendor, Follett Higher Education Group. The bookstore transition means that faculty and staff will use a new IU Bookstore portal to order their course materials for classes that start after May 23, 2022 and going forward. Bookmarks to our former vendor, Barnes and Noble, will no longer be operational after May 23, 2022.
The new portal can be accessed by searching one.iu.edu for the Order Textbooks/Course Materials (Faculty) task. On the Order Textbooks/Course Materials (Faculty) page, users will be presented with their options for ordering course materials at IU.
On Wednesday morning, May 4, 2022, all faculty were sent a direct email with instructions for accessing the new ordering system. We have provided the text of that email below for your convenience.

Dear Faculty Member,
All IU campus bookstores will soon be managed by Follett Higher Education Group, the largest campus store operator in North America. As part of the transition period, the IU Bookstore portal for course materials selection is now live in One.IU. Search for it under “Order Textbooks/Course Materials (Faculty)”.
Important ordering timelines
- Barnes & Noble will continue to be IU’s bookstore provider through May 23, 2022.
- If your class begins May 23 or earlier, submit your order via the Barnes & Noble Adoption Insights Portal (AIP).
- If your class begins May 24 or later, submit your order via the new IU Bookstore portal. You can also find the portal by searching “Order Textbooks/Course Materials (Faculty)” inside One.IU.
- Even if you’ve already placed your order for a late-summer or fall class in the Barnes & Noble site, you must submit a new order through the IU Bookstore portal. However, you do not need to cancel any late-summer or fall orders submitted to Barnes & Noble.
Sooner is always better for the most choices and the best prices. However, Follett recommends faculty submit late-summer orders by May 20 and fall orders by June 3.
We’re here to help
Follett will offer training and support for its new portal, both virtually and in person; we’ll share more about those opportunities when the information is available. In the meantime, several Follett Discover demonstration videos are available online. Additional details about ordering roles are explained in an FAQ about the transition.
