IT Professionals:
The University Information Security Office (UISO) would like to make you aware that the Federal Communications Commission has determined that security products from Kaspersky, a Russian maker of antivirus and other security software, pose an unacceptable risk to US national security [1] [2].
The UISO issued a similar advisory in 2017, when the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) banned the use of software authored by Kaspersky Labs on US government systems [3]. At that time, we contacted all departments using Kaspersky software and blocked their use on our networks. The UISO continues to block Kaspersky software on the IU network.
Please contact the UISO with questions or concerns at uiso@iu.edu.
