IT Professionals,
As you may know, we are in the process of transitioning to a new bookstore vendor. While many faculty order course materials themselves, others have IU staff members place their orders.
Due to the timing of the transition, IU eTexts is assisting Follett in collecting information about staff who place orders for faculty. Our goal is to ensure the transition to the new ordering process goes as smoothly as possible.
Please feel free to share the message below widely in your e-communications, especially with staff members who may submit orders on behalf of faculty.

Subject Line: UPDATE: Bookstore Transition – Ordering Roles
Faculty and Staff,
There are three ordering roles in the new (to us) Follett Discover system:
- Faculty — Those who are assigned to a class in the Schedule of Classes.
- Concierge – Those who have permission to submit orders on behalf of faculty, and who may view/pull reports on program/department/school ordering compliance.
- Administrator – Those who have permission to ‘manage’ orders (via permissions and approvals) and who may view/pull reports on program/department/school/campus ordering compliance.
Access to the Faculty role is automatic when there is a teaching assignment in the SIS Schedule of Classes.
Access to the Concierge and Administrator roles is usually managed directly through the campus bookstore manager. However, since they will not be in place until May 24, we are collecting details for the Follett team for early processing.
If you had access similar to the Concierge or Administrator role in the Barnes & Noble ordering system (Adoption Insights Portal, or AIP), and wish to have similar access in Follett Discover, please send a request to etexthlp@iu.edu. We will accept requests through Noon (Eastern) on Friday, May 20. We will need all the following details in your request:
- Requested Role (either Admin or Concierge)
- First Name
- Last Name
- IU Email Address
- Campus
- Subject Code (example: ENG-W… If there are multiple Subject Codes, please list each one of them)
- Course Catalog Number (example: 131) (OPTIONAL, in case you need/want to be this restrictive)
- We will not deliver any requests missing any of the required details or including any inaccuracies.
At this time, we do not know how long it will take to configure your access, or if and how you will be notified.
Beginning May 24, please request your access directly from your (Follett) campus bookstore manager.
