IT Professionals,
On Monday, July 26, Google will begin contacting users who own or manage files that will be impacted by a security update planned for mid-September. [1]
This security update will be applied to Google Drive on Monday, September 13. This change will make Google Drive files more secure by updating their links with an additional resource key. Once the update has been applied to a file, users who haven’t viewed the file before will need to use a URL containing the resource key to gain access. Those who have viewed the file before or have direct access will not need the resource key to access the file.
More information about this update is also available at Google Workspace Updates. [2]
As always, we will continue to provide timely communication/additional information concerning future updates.
