IT Professionals:
We would like to inform you that the following mailing will be sent to Box users directly Tuesday, February 23.
We would like to call attention to the option that users can convert their IU Box account to a Box.com “lite” account. This will allow them to continue collaborations using their IU email address with other universities or entities that have a Box instance.

Red box: If you need to share data via Box, convert your account. Make sure you get everything out of Box before May 10 when it will be retired.
Dear Box users,
As the end of IU’s contract with the Box cloud storage service draws near, we’re pleased to report that the migration from Box to the Microsoft and Google storage platforms is nearly complete.
We understand the timing of this migration has not been ideal, and we are grateful for your flexibility and patience.
It is important to not add new data to Box as any changes will be lost when IU’s contract with Box expires.
Convert your IU Box account to a Box.com account
Some people might need to maintain their Box account for collaborations outside of Indiana University. (For example, if you are collaborating on a research project in a folder owned by another Box school, such as the University of Illinois, or a professional organization to which you belong.) To accommodate this need, all Box users at the university can choose to convert their IU Box account to a personal “lite” account hosted by Box.com.
However, all data owned by your IU Box account will be permanently deleted as part of this process, and only data that you collaborate on with other institutions or entities will remain visible to you.
If you need to access Box data using your IU account, do this before June 30, as you will not be able to create a new personal “lite” account (with your IU email address) hosted by Box.com until 6 months after IU’s contract with Box expires. You will not be able to create a Box.com “lite” account with your IU email address after June 30.
Fill out this form to request conversion of your IU Box account.
Box goes read-only on March 1; Box files inaccessible after May 10
In addition to your folders, which are already read-only, your user account in Box will become “read-only” and you will no longer be able to edit or upload files in Box after March 1. However, you will still be able to view and download files until May 10. After May 10, IU Box will be disabled for all users. You will no longer have access to files stored in Box.

Review your migration error report for group and personal accounts to ensure that you have everything you need before May 10.
