IT Professionals,
This email is intended for application owners and does not contain information that is significantly impactful to end users.
As you may be aware, applications utilizing IU Login (formerly CAS) for authentication are expected to migrate to new infrastructure, IU Login 2.0. We are pleased that over half of all applications have already transitioned to the new infrastructure but would like your help in closing the gap. Here’s what one of your colleagues had to say about the process:
“We use standard libraries to integrate with CAS so our migration to IU Login couldn’t have been simpler. We submitted a request to have our services added to the allow list and then we simply changed the URL in our application and everything worked!”
-James Bennett
Resources
Two migration infoshares have been given in the past year [1,2], which are available on Kaltura. Additionally, there are various KB articles [3,4,5,6] available to aid in the transition as well as a listserv for discussion [7]. Of course, the Identity Management Systems team can always be reached at imsinfo@iu.edu.
Considerations
While many applications have relied on the CAS protocol, it may not be the best option for the future of your applications. Your authentication needs are likely better supported by SAML or with OpenID Connect, which was recently adopted. Enhancements to Guest accounts, including social login, are also available upon migration [8,9].
