IT Professionals,
The eLearning Services team (eLS) wants to inform you of an upcoming change to Zoom at IU [1].
Waiting rooms [2] will be the security default for all Zoom meetings starting December 21. Users who are logged in with their Zoom at IU accounts will be able to bypass the waiting room, whereas participants from outside IU must be individually admitted. Hosts will have the ability to modify the bypass settings or remove the waiting room entirely. Passcodes can also be added for increased meeting security [3]. These security defaults will only apply to meetings that are created on or after December 21st; this change is not retroactive.
Zoom at IU users will be notified about this change directly via email on Thursday, November 19. Below is the message that will be sent:
Beginning December 21, Zoom at IU will enable waiting rooms as a security default for all meetings.
Users who are logged in with their Zoom at IU accounts will be able to bypass the waiting room, which is especially useful for larger classes and groups. This bypass setting can be adjusted, however, for situations such as appointments or other private meetings, and hosts will have the ability to remove the waiting room entirely. Participants from outside IU will still need to be individually admitted. Passcodes can also be added for increased meeting security.
These security defaults are not retroactive and will only apply to meetings that are created on or after December 21st.
