IT Professionals,
The eLearning Services team (eLS) wants to inform you of two significant changes to Zoom.
Previously, eLS announced that Zoom [1] would be requiring either a passcode or waiting room [2] for all meetings effective July 19th in order to enhance meeting security. However, this has been delayed until September 27th. eLS recommends that staff and faculty begin utilizing either a passcode [3] or waiting room [4] prior to the September 27th enforcement.
Additionally, beginning August 16, 2020, Zoom Rooms [5] will require enhanced encryption when connecting to the Zoom Rooms Controller and to the direct share functionality of the Zoom Meetings client. Zoom Rooms Controllers (including Zoom Rooms Scheduling Displays) not running the minimum versions will no longer function. In preparation, users should make the following upgrades [6]:
- Upgrade to Zoom Client version 5.1.1
- Zoom Rooms & controllers should be updated to version 5.0.5
As always, we will continue to provide timely communication/additional information concerning future updates.
