Date change: The Pages service will be moved to new servers on August 4, 2020

Greetings Mercury/Pages users:

Based on feedback from the user community, the migration of Mercury/Pages to new servers has been rescheduled to August 4, 2020. There will be no changes to the existing Mercury/Pages service until after the end of summer classes.

After the migration, most websites will be active on the new servers without any action required by the user. However, some users will need to take additional steps to activate their websites. We will contact those users directly with additional information.

Pages users should be aware of the following changes:

·        Login server: the new login server will be called ssh-pages.iu.edu. Mercury.uits.indiana.edu will no longer be accessible. Duo will be required for logins, and VPN will be required for off-campus connections.

·        Home directory: your home directory will now be /users/<username>.

·        Web directory: your web site will now be in /users/<username>/web.

·        Site URL: the old pages.iu.edu/~username format will be redirected to the new URL format: <username>.pages.iu.edu. These redirects will be in place for one year.

·        File migration: Your files will be moved to the new servers. You will not need to manually migrate your files. On August 4, most websites will be active on the new servers without any action required by the user. Owners of sites which require user intervention will receive an additional email with instructions in the future.
