IT Professionals,
The eLearning Services team would like to inform you of an upcoming Pearson maintenance as well as two upcoming changes in Zoom [1].
On Saturday, May 23 between 1:00am-9:00am EST, Pearson will be conducting vendor-scheduled maintenance [2] on the following DLT tools, all of which will be completely inaccessible both via the web interface and Canvas integration [3]: My Lab, MyLabs Plus, Mastering, and Modified Mastering.
On May 30th, AES 256-bit GCM encryption will be enabled in all Zoom meetings. After May 30th, all users who haven’t updated their Zoom client to the newest version (5.0) will receive a forced upgrade the next time they join a meeting. Users are strongly advised to upgrade their clients in advance of the forced upgrade by visiting the Zoom download center [4].
In addition to AES 256-bit GCM encryption, users can expect other new features with Zoom 5.0 Meeting security controls are now grouped together in the Security icon on the host meeting menu bar. Controls include the new Report a User feature, which notifies Zoom’s Trust & Safety team of platform misuse. For more information, see Zoom 5.0 is Here [5].
As always, we will continue to provide timely communication/additional information to this list concerning future updates.
