IT Professionals:
As you may know, the University Information Policy Office (UIPO) and University Information Security Office (UISO) routinely communicate via email regarding passphrase scrambles, compromised devices, vulnerable hosts, daily usage reports, and non-US login reports for users within the department(s) supported by your IT unit. These notices rely upon information within IT People [1] to determine who should be copied on these reports. Users have the option of “CC’ing IT Staff” for both the Daily Account Usage Report and non-US login reports. When this option is selected, all IT Pros associated with your unit will receive these reports. The default option is to not copy IT staff on daily and non-US login reports. IT Pros will still be copied on all passphrase scrambles, compromised/vulnerable devices, etc. For units with minimal staff, the receipt of these reports by two or three pros is relatively unproblematic, but for larger units, we received feedback that this was unnecessarily noisy and burdensome.
To simplify this process and to align functionality with what was in place within the old IT Pro Database, we have added a “Contact Email” box viewable when you edit your IT unit within IT People. This contact email will remain hidden from public view, but will be the default contact for reports generated by UIPO and UISO. When no “contact email” address is supplied, all IT Pros in an IT unit will be copied on all notices, save for Daily and Non-US Login Reports, dependent upon user subscription settings.
