IT Professionals:
The Institute for Digital Arts & Humanities and IU Libraries would like to make you aware that GIS Day is November 13, 2019 at the Wells Library on the IUB campus.
What is GIS?
“A geographic information system (GIS) is a computer system for capturing, storing, checking, and displaying data related to positions on Earth’s surface. GIS can show many different kinds of data on one map. This enables people to more easily see, analyze, and understand patterns and relationships.” -National Geographic Society
They are happy to have Maira Alvarez and Sylvia Fernandez from Borderlands Archives Cartography give the keynote address at noon, followed by an info fair in the Wells Library Lobby from 1pm-4pm. They will also be leading a workshop on Mapping as a Form of Activism on November 14.
More information about GIS Day can be found on the website. Please note that the keynote address comes with free lunch, but you must register in advance to get food!
Please contact Theresa Quill (theward@indiana.edu) or Ella Robinson (idah@indiana.edu) with any questions.
