IT Professionals:
The Campus Communications Infrastructure team is pleased to announce that the IU Fax service has completed the IU HIPAA process and is now authorized for use with Protected Health Information as defined by HIPAA.
If you or your department want to begin using the IU Fax service for transmitting HIPAA protected data, you must first submit a request form and agree to the IU Fax service acknowledgement statement.
Request forms can be found on the IU Telecom site, at https://telecom.iu.edu
The specific request that must be filled out varies depending on your current situation.
- If you or your department are current IU Fax users with a number for inbound faxing service: Please go to the IU Telecom site and fill out a new fax service request including your fax number in the request details. In the Request Details section, mention you are an existing user and are signing the IU Fax user agreement.
- If you or your department currently uses an analog fax machine and wish to have your number converted over to the IU Fax service: Please go to the IU Telecom site and fill out a conversion request.
- If you or your department do not currently have any faxing services: Please go to the IU Telecom site and submit a new service request.
For information on the IU Fax service, including details on how to properly use the service with HIPAA protected data, please see our public documentation portal at https://go.iu.edu/iufax
