FOUR WEEK SESSION – JUNE 21 TO JULY 19, 2025 for Violinists TWO WEEK SESSION – JULY 4 TO JULY 19, 2025 for Violinists and Cellists Faculty: Mimi Zweig, Brenda Brenner, Gwen Chan, Ching-Yi Lin, Andrew Braddock and Helen Ford For Violinists The Junior String Academy is geared towards the intermediate level of violin playing. There is no minimum age but students must be playing at the Bach A Minor Concerto level or above and be able to practice 2 to 3 hours/day. Junior String Academy students will have two lessons/week, additional helper lessons, chamber music ensemble, and master classes. All the Summer String Academy activities will be open to Junior SA students. Violinists can enroll for a 4 week session from June 21 to July 19 or a 2 week session from July 4 to July 19. For Cellists The Daily Schedule: Evening events to include Indiana University Summer Festival Concerts, String Academy concerts, master classes and lectures. Application deadline: April 11, 2025 2. Audition requirements: Upload audition materials HERE (If you have issues accessing the audition portal please email musicsp@iu.edu) Application video of two contrasting movements or pieces and a letter of recommendation from a teacher is required. Junior students participating in Session One and/or Session One and Two will play a chamber music audition on Sunday, June 20. Junior students participating in Session Two will play a chamber music audition on July 5 for chamber music placement. Practicing must be done at home. Students coming from out of Bloomington will be responsible for finding their own housing. Parents will be responsible for remaining with students and accompanying them to and from ALL rehearsals, lessons, master classes, and concerts.
