| FOUR WEEK SESSION – JUNE 20 TO JULY 18, 2026 for Violinists TWO WEEK SESSION – JULY 4 TO JULY 18, 2026 for Violinists and Cellists Faculty: Mimi Zweig, Brenda Brenner, Gwen Chan, Ching-Yi Lin, Pasha Sabouri, Andrew Braddock and Helen Ford For Violinists The Junior String Academy is geared towards the intermediate level of violin playing. There is no minimum age but students must be playing at the Bach A Minor Concerto level or above and be able to practice 2 to 3 hours/day. Junior String Academy students will have two lessons/week, additional helper lessons, chamber music ensemble, and master classes. All the Summer String Academy activities will be open to Junior SA students. Violinists can enroll for a 4 week session from June 20 to July 19 or a 2 week session from July 4 to July 18. For Cellists The Junior String Academy is offering a two week program for cellists. (July 4 to 18) There is no minimum age but students must be at the Vivaldi Sonata in E Minor level or above and be able to practice 2 to 3 hours/day. The participants will have two lessons/week, additional helper lessons, chamber music ensemble, and master classes. All the Summer String Academy activities will be open to Junior SA students. The Daily Schedule: Evening events to include Indiana University Summer Festival Concerts, String Academy concerts, master classes and lectures. Application deadline: April 10, 2026 Audition requirements: Registration link will open in December 2025. After registering, please upload audition materials. Audition upload link will be open later in 2025. (If you have issues accessing the audition portal please email musicsp@iu.edu) Audition video of two contrasting movements or pieces and a letter of recommendation from a teacher is required. Audition materials will not be evaluated unless you have registered and paid the registration fee. Junior students participating in Session One and/or Session One and Two will play a chamber music audition on Sunday, June 19. Junior students participating in Session Two will play a chamber music audition on Saturday, July 4 at 10 AM for chamber music placement. Fees: *A $100 non-refundable registration fee is due at the time of registration and submitting your audition materials. Audition materials will not be reviewed without registration and payment of this fee. The fee is credited towards the overall cost of tuition upon program acceptance. Students coming from out of Bloomington will be responsible for finding their own housing. Parents will be responsible for remaining with students and accompanying them to and from ALL rehearsals, lessons, master classes, and concerts.
