Google. Twitter. Spotify. Mozilla. Dropbox. Airbnb. The Wikimedia Foundation. Each of these names — easily recognizable in the information age that is the 21st century — has been recognized by the World Economic Forum in one year or another as one of the world’s 30 most promising technology pioneers. These are companies that, in the forum’s assessment, are poised to significantly impact business and society on a global scale.
Add PrecisionHawk Inc. to that list. The North Carolina-based company — which has received financial backing from the Innovate Indiana Fund since its earliest rounds of capitalization — recently joined this select group of companies during the WEF’s Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Tianjin, China.
“Throughout our involvement with PrecisionHawk, we’ve watched not only its aerial platforms and analytical tools evolve in sophistication, but its markets grow increasingly diverse as well. The recognition PrecisionHawk has received for its innovative potential on a global scale is well-earned, and we are pleased to have played a role in supporting such success.”
–– Kenneth Green, managing director, Innovate Indiana Fund
PrecisionHawk takes a multifaceted approach to its industry, producing not only unmanned aerial vehicles to collect terrestrial data, but the software that processes and analyses such data — as well as systems that enable drones to safely navigate airspace even when flying beyond line-of-sight.
The company, which employs at least 10 of its 120 workers in Indiana, was noted by the selection committee for “bringing value to an emerging market” with a solution that gathers, processes and analyzes aerial data that can be used across a wide range of industries including agriculture, insurance, energy and mining.
