Grand Challenges at IU Bloomington, a town hall meeting to address research initiatives at IU-Bloomington, is scheduled from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Monday (May 11) at Whittenberger Auditorium.
“Grand Challenges” are problems whose scope spans institutional and disciplinary boundaries, whose solutions require new knowledge, new tools and new treatments. The coordinated pursuit of “grand challenges” is a central piece of Indiana University Bloomington’s Bicentennial Plan.
The event will be co-hosted by Provost Lauren Robel and Interim Vice Provost for Research Rick Van Kooten — and includes several speakers that include Tony Armstrong, president and CEO of the Indiana University Research and Technology Corp.
A tentative agenda includes:
- Welcome and Introductions: (TBD for Provost and Executive Vice President)
- Overview: Rick Van Kooten, Interim Vice Provost for Research
- IU Foundation: Jennifer Lawrence, Executive Director for IU Foundation Relations
- Office of Engagement: Tony Armstrong, President & CEO, IU Research and Technology Corp.
- Proposal Development Services: Meryl Bertenthal, OVPR Proposal Development Services
- Research Collaborations: Rick Van Kooten and Jin Chen, Research Analyst, OVPFAA, Academic Analytics
