In previous posts we’ve focused on the recent independent economic impact study that assessed the combined effect of Indiana University and IU Health on the financial health of Indiana. The results are impressive. Among other things, the study data reveals that IU and IU Health combined support over 100,000 direct and indirect jobs, equating to the largest employer in Indiana.
In a recent op-ed piece, IU President Michael McRobbie highlighted this study data and more to argue that public research universities are unsung economic engines throughout the U.S.
McRobbie’s article, “The Proof is in: Public Universities Are Economic Powerhouses for States,” appears in the April 9 online edition of the Huffington Post.
It’s a must read for anyone concerned about the state of higher education in the U.S.
