Dr. Vince Guido, an IU Bloomington alumnus, is the owner of Guido Family Dentistry. It is a father-and-daughter dental practice dedicated to taking care of patients as if they’re family. It uses the most modern technologies to provide comfort and convenience.
Crimson Catalyst: If a person has an idea for a business, what are the first three questions they should ask themselves as they work to make it a reality?
Vince Guido: 1) Why are they willing to give up huge amounts of time and effort to make it work? 2) How will it make others’ life better? 3) How can they fund the start?
CC: What has surprised you during the course of your day-to-day entrepreneurship journey?
VG: The fickleness of people.
CC: How do you define success?
VG: To have enough to care for your family, which everyone has to define for themselves; to give back to their community; and to save for their life after they are no longer working.
CC: What is dangerous or scary about being an entrepreneur?
VG: Everything can fall apart quickly, even if you think you are doing everything correctly.
CC: What is the best advice you’ve received?
VG: If you don’t charge enough, you won’t be here in a couple of years to help anyone.
CC: What is the best advice you can offer?
VG: Be sure your “why” is big enough to carry you through the tough times.
