Congratulations to Encamp Inc., founded by IU Bloomington graduates Luke Jacobs and Daniel Smedema along with Jacobs’ brother Sam. The company received the 2019 Product of the Year award from Occupational Health & Safety magazine in the EHS — or environmental, health and safety — Software category.
Encamp has engineered a software platform that makes it faster and simpler for businesses to maintain compliance with environmental regulations while minimizing mistakes caused by human error. It received a $250,000 investment from the Indiana University Philanthropic Venture Fund in 2018.
“Additionally, we are launching the first intelligent environmental, health and safety compliance calendar that customers will be able to use at no cost at the start of Q4 2019,” Luke Jacobs said. “Our mission is to create software for our customers that makes it easier than ever to achieve high levels of corporate environmental responsibility while also reducing the time and money it takes to get there.”
Jacobs said the award carries a lot of prestige because Occupational Health & Safety is the leading news magazine, e-newsletter and website for industry professionals. Encamp will be featured in the October/November issue as well as on the website.
“The award recognizes our outstanding product development achievements and how our platform can improve workplaces,” Jacobs said. “The award further cements our value to the EHS industry, and it places us in an elite caliber of other 2019 winners like 3M, Honeywell, and Wolverine Footwear and Apparel.”
Jacobs said the $250,000 investment from the fund has been critical to Encamp’s continued product development and sales team expansion.
“Since the funding, we have raised an additional $1 million as part of our seed funding,” Jacobs said. “Additionally, we have increased to almost 160 customers, including our first Fortune 500 client.”
