An associate professor with the IU Media School recently was selected as one of 12 fellows for the 2017 Scripps Howard Journalism Entrepreneurship Institute to be held at Arizona State University’s Phoenix campus.

Emily Metzgar will spend Jan. 3-7 at ASU’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication in a competitively selective program that introduces journalism professors to the concepts and practice of entrepreneurship.

Upon return to their respective institutions, fellows are expected to establish or expand courses on media entrepreneurship. Metzgar said that such a course likely will be offered within The Media School beginning in the fall semester of 2018.

Metzgar’s main area of research centers on public diplomacy and international communication. She also serves as director of the Media School’s honors program.
