BioCrossroads, which serves as a catalyst for the continued growth of Indiana’s life sciences industry, will host two startups based on Indiana University technology and know how during an event Tuesday, August 30 in downtown Indianapolis.
“Accelerating Innovation: How Indiana’s universities are taking innovate ideas to market” will be 8-10 am at D’Amore, 111 Monument Circle, Suite 4800. John Hanak, chairman of the International Business Innovation Association, will make a presentation about the role universities play in driving innovation to the marketplace.
Following the presentation, startups will share how their technologies have been turned into commercialized products. Apex Therapeutics and Wild Pitch Yeast are among the startups scheduled to attend. Apex Therapeutics is a biotechnology company focused on developing novel compounds to treat cancer. Its scientific founder is Dr. Mark Kelley of the IU School of Medicine. Wild Pitch Yeast offers novel yeast strains for brewing, yeast consulting, banking and lab services. It was founded by Dr. Matthew L. Bochman of the Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry Department at IU Bloomington.
