More than 70 faculty, staff and student researchers at Indiana University Bloomington reported 39 inventions during the fiscal year July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016. Disclosures were made to Indiana University Research and Technology Corp., which protects, markets and licenses intellectual property developed at Indiana University so it can be commercialized by industry.

Marie Kerbeshian, IURTC vice president of technology commercialization, said researchers across all Indiana University campuses and academic disciplines are welcome to disclose inventions.

“There are no limitations to the intellectual property that can be disclosed to IURTC. Our technology managers review the work to determine if it can be protected and how,” she said. “Disclosures are the first step in the commercialization process, which could lead to licensing agreements, products and processes that improve people’s lives, and royalty revenue returned to Indiana University.”

IURTC shared the names of IUPUI and IU School of Medicine researchers who had disclosed inventions in the 2015-2016 fiscal year here and here.
