The first quarterly meeting of 2016 for IU’s Council for Engagement and Economic Development (CREED) is set for 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2 in University Hall Room 1006 on the IUPUI campus. Key presenters will include:
- Marvin Blade, vice president of community relations and economic development for Duke Energy;
- Jonathan Purvis, vice president for development of regional campuses for the IU Foundation, who will discuss IU’s Bicentennial Campaign at those campuses;
- Mark Lawrance, director of IU’s Public Policy Institute, who will discuss IU’s Thriving Communities, Thriving State initiative;
- Rebecca Carl, associate vice president for IU’s Office of the Vice President for Engagement, who will recap President Michael A. McRobbie’s visit to the IU East campus in Richmond and preview his upcoming visit to the IU Southeast campus in New Albany;
- Bill McKinney, IU’s senior adviser for distance education, who will discuss the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification for regional campuses.
Additional agenda items include an overview of the Campus to Community Connections program at Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne, an update on the upcoming Education-to-Employment (E2E) Convergence conference set for May 19, a RED Fund application by IU Southeast and upcoming changes to CREED’s board of representatives.
CREED addresses regional economic concerns and identifies how IU and its regional campuses can bring their resources to bear to advance economic development.
The council consists of a designated representative for each IU campus, appointed by their respective chancellor or provost. Bill Stephan, IU’s vice president for engagement, serves as chair. The vice chair is David Gard, IU’s assistant vice president of economic development.
