Graduate students in IU-Bloomington’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs are working with Spencer Main Street Inc. and the Owen County Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Corp. on a plan to revitalize their local economy.
Led by Barry Rubin, an expert in urban and regional economic development and chair of the school’s Policy Analysis and Public Finance Group, the students will perform research between mid-March and the end of April to help develop a action plan. The project is one of many economic development efforts SPEA students have embarked upon in Southwest Central Indiana in recent years, including endeavors in Mitchell, Bedford and Lawrence County.
