The first meeting of Indiana University’s Council for Regional Engagement and Economic Development (CREED) to be held outside of Indianapolis will take place March 4 at IU’s Kokomo campus.
CREED is an organization of representatives from each of IU’s 10 statewide campuses that seeks to enhance economic development by connecting IU creative and intellectual assets. It meets four times a year and provides a forum to discuss economic development issues and share best practices for regional development.
“It’s an opportunity to learn more about resources the university has that could be brought to bear to enhance economic development.”
— David Gard, IU’s Assistant Vice President for Economic Development and CREED vice chair
IU Vice President for Engagement Bill Stephan, who chairs CREED, said the recent economic success in Kokomo and Howard County serves as an example of how Hoosiers can reverse economic hardship.
“We are delighted that our first regional on-campus meeting of the CREED outside of Indianapolis could be convened in Kokomo, where we can all learn more about best practices—and to see their impact firsthand.”
