Indiana University will be officially recognized as one of 14 Innovation and Economic Prosperity institutions by the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities during its 127th annual meeting next week (Nov. 2-4) in Orlando, Fla.
Back in July, IU received notice of the designation, which recognizes IU’s commitment across all of its campuses to being a leader in fostering regional economic development. That followed a year of self-study and stakeholder engagement to identify IU’s economic development strengths under the Innovate Indiana banner, along with areas for continued growth in concert with the Office for Engagement‘s recently developed strategic plan.
Innovate Indiana will be well represented at the event:
- IU Vice President of Engagement Bill Stephan, serves on the executive committee of APLU’s Commission on Innovation, Competitiveness and Economic Prosperity.
- Assistant Vice President for Economic Development David Gard serves on the commission’s implementation committee and co-chairs the commission’s meeting planning committee.
On Monday, Nov. 3, Gard and IU Associate Vice President and Chief of Staff Rebecca Carl also will lead a roundtable discussion titled “Creating Internal Infrastructure for Engagement Through Partnerships.”
