Anagin, a company co-founded by Indiana University scientists Anantha Shekhar (left) and Yvonne Lai (right) is one of the latest success stories to emerge from IURTC’s Spin Up program.
With nearly $800,000 in seed money, which includes a recent $692,706 Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from the National Institutes of Health and $50,000 in matching funds from Elevate Ventures, Anagin is on a mission to revolutionize the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder, better known as PTSD.
The company is developing a first-of-its-kind drug, one that specifically blocks the targeting mechanism in the brain that develops fearful memories without triggering debilitating side effects. Those include agitation, irritability, sexual dysfunction, drowsiness, memory issues, motor skill problems and addiction.
Anagin bodes such commercial promise that it was named a finalist in the BioCrossroads New Venture Competition, whose winner will be announced Oct. 14. Read more about Anagin’s story here:
