IU student Nick Tippmann has helped organize the Bloomington edition of Startup Weekend, a weekend-long, interactive learning experience where local entrepreneurs can pitch their ideas, network with others in the venture community, create a product, test the viability of their startup concepts, and potentially create the basis of a company in just over 48 hours.

On average, half of Startup Weekend’s participants have technical backgrounds (programmers, developers, designers, and engineers) while the other half have business backgrounds (finance, marketing, business development, and management).
The event takes place at The Solution Lab, 2356 W. Industrial Park Dr., Bloomington, IN 47403. Startup Weekend Bloomington kicks off at 6:00pm, Friday, May 4 and wraps up by 9:00pm, Sunday, May 6. Online registration remains open: general admission is $50; student admission is $35, representing a 30% discount. All that is required is an open-mind and a willingness to take part in the high-energy, non-stop action that makes Startup Weekend a unique event.
