Did you know that more people on planet Earth have access to mobile phones than toilets? That’s right; the world is more connected now than ever thanks to smartphones. People are using their Androids and iPhones to do everything from checking the weather to buying clothes. Market trends show that people are using their smartphones to do pre-purchase research. Smartphone users are also more likely to make purchases than desktop users. In this environment, your business will not survive without making it in the mobile market.
Entering the mobile market is not as hard as it sounds. You don’t need millions of dollars to get your business into the Apple Store. If you are serious about entering the mobile market (which you should be), here are a number of useful tips to follow:
Design a Mobile App
The first thing you need to do to reach customers using smartphone is to hire an app developments company. Your regular web developer won’t be able to design an app, as it is a completely different type of software. An experienced third-party will be able to design your company a wonderful, easy-to-use smartphone app. Be sure to make the app compatible with different operating systems, such as Android and iOS. Also, it has to be free. Mobile users will not pay for an app from a vendor they haven’t even heard of. Make the app free and offer premium services for a fee.
Make Your Website Mobile Responsive
Most websites are designed to fit large desktop and laptop screens. Your website will not load well on the small screens of mobile phones and tablets. This is not ideal as a number of consumers browse the web and access shopping sites on their mobile phones. Therefore, your website should be made responsive. That means your website is designed in a way that loads easily on smaller screens. It may require tweaking the web layout a bit. You must do this immediately to reach out to the lucrative and ever growing mobile-oriented consumer base.
Your Support Phone Number Should be Clickable
Make sure the customer support phone number you provide on your website is clickable. You should make it as easy as possible for smartphone users to click on the number and make a quick phone call if they want to. Make it as convenient as possible for smartphone users to reach you. Obviously, no one is going to type an online inquiry on a smartphone. Therefore, you must provide the number on your website if it’s not there already.
Twitter is a popular social network among mobile users. Smartphone users love tweeting much more than desktop users do. Therefore, carefully integrate Twitter to your regular marketing campaign to better reach smartphone users. Urge customers to use hashtags, and provide avenues for potential customers to share your content easily with smartphones.
Introduce a Text Messaging Campaign
Like email marketing for desktop users, you need a good text messaging (SMS) campaign to engage smartphone users. You can send information regarding discounts, and seasonal greetings, to customers that subscribe. It’s important to keep in mind here not to spam your customers. Don’t text them all the time and end up a blacklisted number.
Remember, mobile is a channel that travels with your customers all the time. Smartphones give companies and businesses unprecedented access to consumers. Therefore, you need to start working on a mobile marketing strategy right now.
