Every fall, the ILS Doctoral Student Association organizes a conference for Ph.D. students called the Doctoral Research Forum. This is an opportunity for students to present their research in a professional setting, receive feedback from peers and mentors, and learn about one another’s research. Faculty and graduate students are invited to attend. Top presenters are recognized with awards.
This year’s forum featured seven presentations from students and keynote speaker Dr. Kate Starbird of the University of Washington. Dr. Starbird presented the talk “Online Rumoring, Misinformation, and Disinformation: A Retrospective on a Decade of Research” with an extended Q&A session, allowing for interesting discussion among students and Starbird.
The students’ presentations were polished and professional, highlighting the innovative and wide range of research they are involved in. Thank you to all our presenters: Meredith Dedema, Jieli Liu, Shohana Akter, Gordon Amidu, Gyuri Kang, Megan Vladoiu, and Alex Wingate.
Congratulations to our top award winners:
- Alex Wingate: “A Novels and the NSTC: A Quantitative Study of Legal Deposit”
