Finch Collins (‘23 MLS/MA History)
Finch Collins has accepted a position as Assistant Curator of Rare Books at the Linda Hall Library, one of the leading independent science research libraries in the U.S. The post entails describing, building, and promoting a library collection of rare books devoted to the history of science, technology, and engineering.
Ece Gumusel (2025, PhD in Information Science, Minor: Computer Science)
In September 2022, Ece was funded by Luddy School to join and celebrate women in tech for Grace Hopper Celebration 2022 in Orlando, FL. (full funding for transportation and accommodations). At Kelley School’s Velocity Conference in Berkeley, CA March 7th to March 10th, she was one of the five Luddy students who was funded and selected to join the entrepreneurship conference. Ece also received an SLIS Doctoral Fellowship in September 2022 from the ILS Department. She is returning as a Privacy Analyst and Engineer Grad Intern at MITRE for Summer 2023. Ece has mentored 2 CS undergraduate students undern the UROC@Luddy program in Fall 2022, and again mentored 2 CS undergraduate students under the UROC@Luddy program in Spring 2023. She has also been recently seeking individuals to participate in a study about privacy and security tool usage by LGBTQ+ folks in information science (IRB: #18370). Ece is looking for participants who are currently in information and library science or informatics department and identify themselves in LGBTQ+ communities. She is currently a 1 year fully funded Research Assistant for Dr. Inna Kouper (Faculty, Informatics Research) for Fall 2022 and Spring 2023.
Ryan Hedrick (’23 MLS)
A lot has happened for me this academic year. In the summer of 2022, I participated in a 10-week internship with Edwards Lifesciences in Irvine, CA, as a digital asset management intern. Then, before the start of the fall semester, I accepted a graduate assistantship with IU’s ILS department. I also was fortunate enough to find another internship within IU’s scholarly communications department as a data services librarian. All of these experiences have been very rewarding and have helped me grow immensely over the last year. I graduate in May with my MLS specializing in Data Science, and I’m on course to graduate with a GPA over 3.9.
Thi Lettner (’23 MLS)
Thi received the 2023 Music Library Association’s Diversity Scholarship Award, a scholarship aimed to recruit students from historically underrepresented racial/ethnic groups into music librarianship by providing support for master’s-level LIS education. After graduation, In Summer 2023, she will be completing an Internship at Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage. In this position, Thi will be working with the curator, James Deutsch, in researching the lives of those who experienced homeless in the early 1900s. In Fall 2023, She will be beginning a fully funded PhD program in Ethnomusicology at the University of Maryland.
Jieli Liu (2025 expected, PhD in Information Science)
Wrote a workshop paper at ASIST 2022: Jieli Liu, Noriko Hara (2022). Has also done Public Engagement with Science via Twitter: What topics do scientists and the public care about most during COVID-19? Influences on Deliberation Quality: Exploring How Question Characteristics Affect Scientific Deliberation. Co-authored a short paper at ASIST midyear conference in 2023: Jieli Liu, Noriko Hara (2023). Also co-wrote a short paper at ASIST midyear conference in 2023: Jieli Liu, Pnina Fichman, Megan Vladoiu (2023). Virtual Service Equality in Public Libraries.
Mohit Tuli (’23 MIS with Data Science Specialization)
Mohit was a Student Ambassador for Luddy School for one semester. Over the summer, they interned with Johnson & Johnson as a Research Data Scientist. Mohit was also a Research Assistant with Kelley School of Business for advanced python programming. Post-graduation, will be joining Eli Lilly and Company as a Manager (Data Science and Analytics vertical) in the company’s IDS department.
Sarah Vitelli (MLS)
Sarah will be doing an internship at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY this summer, working at their library in the Giamatti Research Center. She will work as a research department intern.
