Every May, the ILS department puts out a magazine with stories and achievements from the academic year. This magazine is the product of months of writing and preparing articles, most of which is undertaken by graduate assistants in the ILS office.
The content will vary depending on the year’s news from the department. The cover story, however, demands more planning. Early on, we set a theme to guide our process, seeking out unique stories to tell about IU and ILS. This year, we planned to discuss the extent and variety of resources that IU Libraries offer, focusing on how they have changed over time. After several rich interviews, we found that we had too much information to fit it all into one short article, so we shifted to a more present-only perspective.
By this time, however, we had already done significant research into the history of IU Libraries and even created a timeline to accompany the article. Since it will not make it the final publication, we have shared the timeline below for your enjoyment.
Keep an eye out for the 2024-2025 ILS Magazine coming out soon! Thank you to Megan Sherry, Lily Natter, and Sophia Congdon for all your hard work this year.
