Candidates for the Indiana Health Law Review are limited to second- and third-year law students. The invitation process occurs in two ways. Students are either automatically invited to join our periodical based upon their GPA, or students are invited to join our periodical based upon their performance on The Joint Writing Competition (“JWC”). The JWC is completed in collaboration with the two other law reviews at the IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law.
The JWC consists of two separate assignments: (1) the Closed Note Assignment and (2) the Editing Assignment.
The Closed Note assignment requires candidates to compose a mini Note in which they respond to a prompt and set forth an argument using provided sources. The Editing Assignment consists of an in-text excerpt that is accompanied by footnotes. The candidate must correct grammatical and/or spelling errors with respect to the in-text portion. Additionally, the candidate must correct the footnote citations so that they comply with The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (20th Edition).
