We can live without gold or oil. But can we live without water? A dependable supply of fresh water is the ultimate limit of sustainability, but this resource is increasingly at risk. This course will start with two, real-world case studies, move on to the Earth’s hydrological cycle and its relationships with Earth’s other systems, and finally, the relationships between water & public health and water & war. Students will learn answers to the questions, “if there is so much water on the Earth, why is there a crisis?” and “what effects does global warming have on water resources?”
