Class meets In Person. For more information visit https://covid.iu.edu/learning-modes/index.html
This class is intended for students who have passed an advanced placement test in calculus. It will start with a review of the fundamental notions of the real numbers, limits, continuity and derivatives, but in greater detail than in the typical calculus class. After this review, including proofs of the mean value theorem, L’Hopital’s rule and the Taylor expansion, we will proceed to the concept of integral and various techniques of integration (substitution, integration by parts, trigonometric functions, etc.) The class should give a solid grounding for pursuing higher level mathematics classes. While computational techniques will play an important role, there will be a lot of emphasis on finding and explaining correct arguments.
