CLASS NOTES: IUB GenEd S&H credit; COLL (CASE) S&H Breadth of Inquiry credit
Consulting firms hire students for their academic knowledge (and curiosity), analytical aptitude, communication, and leadership skills. Top consulting firms are incredibly selective in making the right hire (for the company). Whether you enjoy the idea of working deemed as a consultant, or not, you will always be in a position of giving advice whatever your profession may be. The question though, is what do you, or others, gain in that process of either learning to be a consultant or more importantly, how do you build a complete package of skills necessary to provide expert advice in any area. This class provides a fuller examination of skills necessary to hone your talents and achieve value in giving back by becoming strategically engaged with real clients. Clients that need a full array of skills, often those not taught in traditional consulting courses. Our intended clients will be those in community, your neighbors, that need your full attention (and broader skill range) to meet everyday challenges that a business or organization may encounter – we will prioritize working with rural, minority, and women in community. Take the class to learn relational consulting skills, organizational frameworks that assist in understanding and guiding a business or organization in community, and how to prioritize enriching others by enhancing your own academic and professional skills.
