Violence is one of the most fundamental and perplexing features of human existence, widely prevalent in the foundational texts of civilizations and throughout recorded history. In this course, we will attempt to gain insights into the roles of violence in our lives by examining it through biological, psychological, ethical, and political lenses. How can a deeper understanding of the roots of violence help us to prevent it and respond appropriately when it arises?
