The opioid epidemic is resulting in tens of thousands of deaths per year, with tens as many overdoses as deaths, and millions of lives of family members, coworkers, and neighbors disrupted by opioid use. In this course, we will examine the opioid epidemic from the points of view of neurobiology, clinical medicine, literature, ethics, and public policy, attempting to understand the full scope of this inherently multi-disciplinary challenge of our age.
