Position: Research Technician I (FT)

Job Summary:
Prepares for the set-up and execution of field experiments in support of research projects. Conducts technical aspects of research studies including, but not limited to, study logistics, production and collection of data, data management, and study documentation for quality assurance review. Train and supervise junior-level employees. May help plan experiments and short-term research goals.
Fundamental Responsibilities:
- Performs a wide variety of complex experiments and reports results.
- Keeps organized analytical data of performed experiments.
- Provides support for equipment maintenance as needed.
- Acts as a liaison to students and laboratory personnel for training.
- Maintains laboratory supply requisition and management.
- May train junior-level staff.
- May help plan experiments or short-term goals.
Note: The Aoki Lab studies the assembly and function of RNA-protein complexes, focusing on their role in development and passage of molecular information. The selected candidate will be considered a “scientist” from day one with his/her own research projects. Thus, this position will be an excellent way to gain lab experience for graduate school applications.
Required conditions:
Bachelor’s degree in science or a related field.
Proficient communication skills. Maintains a high degree of professionalism. Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills. Demonstrates a high commitment to quality. Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment. Highly thorough and dependable.
Preferred Qualifications:
Related experience. The ideal candidate will be a post-baccalaureate with aspirations to apply and enter graduate school in 8 months to 3 years.
