The Loyola Adventures in Urobiome Data (L.A.U.D.) Summer Research Program is a virtual research opportunity to study with clinical and scientific researchers focusing on Lower Urinary Tract Diseases. It involves both clinical and basic science aspects and even includes a nice stipend!
Program Details:
• Program will be 8 weeks – June 2 through July 28
• Participants will engage primarily if not exclusively virtually*
• The 2021 summer cohort will consist of 8 participants total
• Participants will be paid a $3250 stipend
This is a full-time commitment. Participants will be engaged during normal business hours M-F.
* Due to the evolving COVID pandemic, the 2021 program will be held primarily if not exclusively virtually. If an individual selected for the program lives within the Chicago area and if Loyola labs are open, a possible in-person experience will be discussed.

Who should apply?
Individuals meeting the eligibility requirements (listed below) who are interested in: how data drives medical research and clinical practice and/or urology.

• Demographic data
• Brief statement outlining research interests and prior relevant experience
• Resume/CV
• Unofficial transcript
• Contact information for 2 letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a STEM faculty.
Eligibility:
1. U.S. citizens or permanent residents, AND
2. Enrollment requirement:
- Currently enrolled at least half-time in an accredited college (including community college) or university as an undergraduate at the Sophomore, Junior or Senior level, OR
- Recently (within last 2 years) completed bachelor’s degree.
3. Applicants that have been accepted to or will be enrolled in a post-baccalaureate (e.g., MS, PhD, MD, DO) program in Fall 2021 are not eligible to apply.
4. Completed the following coursework:
- Genetics or Cell Biology lecture courses
- Statistics, Biostatistics, or Introductory Programming
