The Indiana University Herbarium is a research museum with 158,000 dried plant specimens from Indiana and around the world.
During Spring Semester 2019, we will complete a 5-year project to photograph and record the collection information for all the specimens.
Most of the work is done and can be seen on our data portal (http://midwestherbaria.org).
There are several final tasks like specimen mounting and organization, data quality control checks, and beta-testing the online plant identification tools. Different skills are needed for these tasks, but an essential requirement is good typing skills.
Curatorial Assistants need to work a minimum of 8-10 hours per week (but the hours are flexible), and the pay is $10.15/hour.
The IU Herbarium is located near the northeast corner of Tenth Street and the Bypass (https://biology.indiana.edu/research/facilities-resources/herbarium.html), and this web page has additional information about the IU Herbarium and the digitization project.
