We are thrilled to announce that BIOL-M 460 Microbial Evolution will be taught in Spring 2019. We encourage our students who are interested in microbiology or evolutionary biology to sign up for BIOL-M 460. Prerequisite: BIOL-L 211 or permission of the instructor.
The course will be taught by Dr. Jeff Palmer (https://biology.indiana.edu/about/faculty/palmer-jeffrey.html), who is extremely excited to teach the class. Prof. Palmer will be retiring next year, so this is your last chance to take BIOL-M 460 with him! Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity!
Microbial Evolution covers the ongoing revolution in our understanding of the evolution, diversity, and the importance of microbial life on earth. The class will touch on the evolution of parasites and pathogens and viruses, antibiotic resistance, symbiosis, the human microbiome, horizontal gene transfer, and the tree of life.
In other words, this is going to be a very, very cool course. This content will be of interest to anyone interested in health professions, in research, in microbiology and biotechnology, and in evolutionary biology.
