Looking back over the years that I’ve been involved with foreign policy; I find it noteworthy that policymakers spend so much time and attention on the Middle East. It has only 3% of the world’s population and is not particularly wealthy or powerful, but the world watches and is often fixated there.
Five HLS faculty members honored with Trustees Teaching Award
Five Hamilton Lugar School faculty members have been honored by the IU Board of Trustees with Trustees Teaching Awards for the 2020-2021 academic year. Faculty members are nominated by their department chairs or school deans for their positive impact on learning through the direct teaching of students, particularly undergraduates.
HLS Language Workshop Offers Critical Instruction in Hakha Lai, a Language of Myanmar’s Diaspora
For the first time in its history, the Hamilton Lugar School’s Language Workshop will offer Hakha Lai in its upcoming summer term. Hakha Lai (pronounced Hak-HA Lai) is a language spoken in the Chin State in Myanmar and in refugee communities across the world, primarily in the United States, Norway, and Australia.
