A new photo installation in the Indiana University Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies gives viewers a glimpse into the careers of the school’s namesakes – Senator Richard G. Lugar and Representative Lee H. Hamilton. The installation is in the East wing of the building, in the stairway between the first floor and lower level.
In January 2022, IU President Pamela Whitten unveiled and dedicated large photographic portraits of Representative Lee Hamilton and the late Senator Richard G. Lugar. A year later, these photographs are now the anchor of a display representing a variety of scenes from the decades-long careers of these “gentle giants” of foreign policy.
In addition to the photos, the display includes a placard with the HLS Founding Spirit, and a brief biography of each of the school’s namesakes. The Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies is part of IU’s College of Arts and Sciences.
