Registration Form

Open Division: $90 registration fee
Youth Divisions: $90 registration fee
Deadline for priority registration is Monday, March 1, 2025, after which competitors will be charged a $25 late application fee in addition to the entry fee.
Cancellation policy: If canceled by March 6, 2025 full refund minus cancellation fee will be given. After March 6, 2025 there will be no refund.

The competition is open to all classical guitarists who are not represented by professional management.

Open Division: Ages 18-35

Pre-College Division: Ages 18 and under (not enrolled in a university-level music degree program at the time of the competition) Note:

Open Division Guidelines and Rules

Preliminary Round:
- Maximum duration: 10 minutes.
Semifinal Round:
- Maximum duration: 18 minutes per competitor.
- Semifinalists may repeat pieces from the preliminary round but must include additional repertoire to reach the total program length.
Final Round:
- Maximum duration: 20 minutes.
- Finalists may repeat up to 10 minutes of repertoire from previous rounds.
Repertoire:
- All repertoire is free choice.
- Competitors should aim to present a variety of styles and levels of difficulty, as these factors will be considered in scoring.
Time Limits:
- Competitors exceeding the time limit will be stopped without penalty.
Participation Cap:
- Due to time constraints, only the first 30 applicants will be allowed to compete in the Open Division.

Pre-College Division Guidelines and Rules

Single Round:
- Performers should prepare a free-choice program with a maximum duration of 15 minutes.
- Competitors exceeding the time limit will be stopped without penalty.
Repertoire:
- All repertoire is free choice, with consideration given to variety and difficulty as part of scoring.

International Prize Winners

Visa Restrictions:
- The following visa types cannot accept prize or award income: H1-B, O-1, E-3, and TN.
- Common visa types that can accept prize or award income include F-1, B1, B2, Visa Waiver, and J-1. These visa types are subject to a 30% tax withholding.
- Indiana University does not recognize tax treaties for prize and award income.
Tax Documentation:
- International winners will receive a 1042-S form from Indiana University, which can be used to file a U.S. tax return.
