We are excited to shine a spotlight on the remarkable ‘Windows to the World’ project, and especially to celebrate the vital role of the East Asian Studies Center in this venture.
Windows to the World: Digital Artifacts for Global Educators is an innovative digital initiative enhancing humanities education in Indiana by . . .
connecting K-16 educators with Indiana University’s museums and archives. This interactive, map-based digital platform offers access to diverse global artifacts, including archaeological, artistic, and literary works. Aimed at both educators and students, it provides detailed descriptions, images, 3D renderings, and adaptable lesson plans for each item. Allowing limitless applications of the artifacts, it encourages teachers to adapt the pre-existing lessons to suit their needs or develop new teaching materials.
Since the academic years of 2023-2024, EASC hasn’t just been a participant; it’s been at the forefront, truly driving the project forward. A testament to this leading role was the fantastic teachers workshop we organized on March 2nd, with a special focus on East Asian themes. This event was not only a highlight of our collaboration with Newfields in Indianapolis but also a clear indicator of the Center’s deep commitment and invaluable contribution to the ‘Windows to the World’ project.
We are hosting another teachers’ workshop on May 25th, 2024 at Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies, Indiana University Bloomington.
Stay tuned as we delve deeper into this enriching journey!
