The Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) University Library (http://www.ulib.iupui.edu) seeks a collaborative, creative and energetic librarian to join our forward-thinking team.  Our organization values innovation, team work, and diversity of experience.  As one of three Humanities Librarians, this position will in part be subject liaison to the Departments of English and World Languages and Culture (WLAC).  The role involves: Creating and delivering information literacy instruction and online tutorials; Assessing student learning; Supporting faculty scholarly communication processes; and Guiding transition of collection development from just-in-case to a just-in-time model.  Aside from liaison specific roles, University Library encourages regular engagement in our librarian led, goal-driven work groups such as: Chat Reference Assessment; Green Team (Sustainability); and Open Access Policy Implementation Group.

Prerequisite(s): LIS S401 and LIS S502
The course will provide a practical foundation in the essential concepts, processes, and technologies driving the development of electronic resource management in libraries. The topics covered include scholarly publishing, library‐vendor relations, contract law, information standards, copyright, linking and aggregation technologies, and the management systems used to control the administrative metadata for electronic resources.

And if you have completed S503 and S504, consider S631 Advanced Cataloging.

Prerequisite(s): LIS S401, S503, and S504
S631 will cover cataloging serials (print and online), as well as other non-print materials — audiovisual (DVDs, Blu-Ray, sound recordings, etc.), online resources (eBooks, eAudiobooks, integrating resources, streaming media, etc.), three-dimensional artifacts. In addition, you’ll move on to authority work, Linked Data/BIBFRAME. And a bit on the MARCEdit tool!​

Consider taking S681: History of the Book 1450+ in Fall 2017

From book smuggling and censorship to scandalous content and astonishing illustrations, the history of the book is filled with adventure and intrigue. When you look at a book, you may see a cover and bound pages. However a book is ultimately the story of people. From the author, illustrator, typesetter, and printer to the publisher, bookseller, and reader, a book is much more than a physical object. It’s an artifact that reflects a connection to people, places, periods, and society. We’ll look at the past, but also at the present and future including the role of eBooks in a changing book market.
