Position Summary

Provides regional network requests for articles, research, and reference materials. Performs daily circulation and delivery of library materials using information technology. Works with titles databases, links databases to full text books and journals for the IU Health Library Network, and serials holdings databases. Provides instructional and technical support for customers and assists with access to online resources.

Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

• High School Diploma/GED required; Associate’s degree preferred.
• Database management training, e-Resource management training, Web development training, National Library of Medicine PubMed, and Medical Subject Headings Vocabulary training preferred.
• Requires 0-2 years of relevant library experience.
• Requires experience with database development and management, web development, HTML, and DHTML.

The North Manchester Public Library Board is looking for a dedicated and visionary individual to fill the position of Library Director.

The library serves about 6,000 area residents in the northern portion of Wabash County.  The building is situated in downtown North Manchester, just miles from Manchester University.  This active community includes students from birth to college, area business people, and a large retirement constituency.

The library director is responsible for managing staff, daily operations of the building, ordering of materials, and maintaining state library standards.  This person is also an ex-officio member of the library board and reports all activities to the board. This a full time position requiring at least 35 hours a week, with some night and weekend hours included.

Qualifications:

 Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required and 15 hours of State-required library science courses; MLS from an ALA-accredited institution preferred.

Ability to attain Library Certificate 4 (LC4) or higher within six months of hire date.

Z. Smith Reynolds Library seeks a creative, collaborative, student-centered library instruction professional with the passion and ability to advance the library’s information literacy priorities  through their position as Learning and Instructional Services Librarian.

Reporting to the library’s Director of Research & Instruction Services, the Learning and Instructional Services librarian will be responsible for the planning, administration, and assessment of the library’s robust credit-bearing and course-integrated instruction efforts in order to efficiently and strategically align them with the university’s evolving undergraduate curriculum. The successful candidate will have significant teaching experience and will be a teacher’s advocate, able to mentor their peer instruction librarians and developing and coordinating professional development for the team. They will teach 2-3 sections a year of the library’s credit-bearing elective information literacy courses and may also participate in library instruction for other courses, groups, or visitors. Working with their peer instruction librarians and others throughout the library, the successful candidate will tell the story of our instruction program to various stakeholder audiences throughout the university community, and will build critical relationships on campus by serving on relevant university committees. As a member of the Research & Instruction Services team, [the Learning Services Librarian] may provide research assistance in-person and online as needed, and may also serve as a liaison to an academic department. This is a twelve-month position, with Library Faculty status.

Selection preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching and leading instruction programs in an academic library; a commitment to student-centered, inclusive teaching practices; the ability to work productively, both independently and with a team; the ability to plan and carry out instruction for diverse student populations; experience with assessment of instruction; the flexibility to adapt and respond to the ever-changing landscape of information services in an academic library; and excellent communication, research and writing skills.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program or a master’s degree in a related field with three or more years of instruction experience in an academic or research library setting. Experience teaching a credit-bearing information literacy course, or similar teaching experience and fluency with the Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with and a commitment to accessibility, Universal Design for Learning, inclusive teaching practices, and instructional design
• Experience with the Scholarship of Teaching & Learning (SoTL), including knowledge of emerging library pedagogies
• Experience with programmatic and/or course-specific assessment for library instruction.
• Experience with instructional technologies, especially the Canvas Learning Management System, and knowledge of current ed-tech trends
• Experience building successful strategic relationships with faculty, administrators, student support offices, and academic departments

Salary and Rank: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position is appointed to a Library Faculty rank as established by Wake Forest University. Rank at appointment is based on the successful applicant’s experience and relevant credentials.
