Open Educational Resources (OER) are Creative Commons licensed works that are free to access, distribute, and revise. In this 3-week course, we will review the what, why, and “how” of OER. Lessons will cover the need for OER materials in both academic and public library contexts, copyright and Creative Commons, OER publishing, and current OER trends. We will review popular OER repositories and work hands-on with open materials to learn and demonstrate the benefits of open resources. POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Research and Instructional Services Librarian works with library faculty and staff to advance the library’s educational programming, including the library’s legal research instruction courses and programs for faculty and students; provides reference assistance to library patrons (faculty, students, and members of the public); participates in evening and weekend reference coverage; assists in developing and promoting instructional and user support materials including multimedia and web-based materials; participates in the faculty liaison program; assists with other information services activities; works on team-based projects; and participates in collection development. The Research and Instructional Services Librarian reports to the Associate Director.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with other librarians to teach legal research in the classroom and/or online in the library’s legal instructional courses, including developing and enhancing the legal research curriculum with existing and emerging multimedia technology.
- Provide legal research instruction to Law School faculty and students in informal training sessions.
- Provide reference and research assistance to library users with an emphasis on service to the faculty, students and staff of the Law School by participating in day, evening and weekend reference schedule.
- Participate in the faculty liaison program to provide research support for Law School faculty, provide liaison support to law review and the moot court.
- Participate in collection development by evaluating and selecting information resources.
- Other duties as assigned by the Law Library Director and Associate Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
- D. from ABA approved law school; M.L.S. from ALA accredited library school.
- Research and reference experience and evidence of successful teaching experience in an academic law library or commensurate experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in traditional and electronic legal research methods and excellent knowledge of legal and interdisciplinary research resources including print and electronic materials.
- Demonstrated expertise in the use of technologies including instructional technology, internet resources, and integrated library systems.
- Evidence of ability to meet Indiana University (IUPUI campus) promotion and tenure requirements including scholarship and participation in professional activities.
- Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
- Demonstrated strong service orientation and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively and creatively in a collaborative environment.
- Exhibits professionalism by being reliable, timely, flexible, and collegial.

Position Summary | Indiana University Southeast invites applications for the position of Assistant Librarian, Coordinator of Collections and Online Resources. The IU Southeast Library plays a vital role fostering student success via excellent reference services, an outstanding information literacy program, effective and engaging patron outreach and service, and responsive, pedagogically relevant collections and services.
We seek a creative and highly motivated individual to join a collegial team of six faculty librarians and seven staff members who are strongly committed to delivering state-of-the-art services and resources in a supportive, service-oriented, collaborative environment. This is a faculty status tenure-track position with expectations for excellent performance, research/creative activity/professional development, and service. The successful candidate will be hired at the Assistant Librarian level. The Coordinator of Collections & Online Resources participates in the collection development and collection management of the entirety of the Library’s resources, including print titles, online journals and serials, databases, eBooks, streaming video, government publications, and more. The successful candidate will administer the entire lifecycle of e-resources, including licensing, acquisition, discoverability, access and accessibility, and assessment, and serve as the Library’s Government Documents Depository Coordinator for the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP). This position also will be an active participant in the reference, instruction, and liaison programs on campus. Position Announcement: Library Assistant,
The Huntington City-Township Public Library is accepting applications for a
full-time (40 hour) Library Assistant II position to specialize in social
services. This position will work part-time at the Reference Desk service
point. The remaining job duties will center around providing services that
support the needs of the community. The position will be responsible for
identifying areas of need and developing programs in social services that
may include job placement, mental health, physical health, economic
support, and other areas of need. The position will also be responsible for
training staff, partnering with community agencies, providing expert advice
on social service issues, and providing direct intervention with patrons.
